Rules of The Yard.

This is a working trade community. The rules are here to keep scammers, stolen gear, spam, and junk behavior from ruining it for everybody else.

Community rules

Talk shop like adults.

No harassment, threats, or personal attacks.
No spam, fake accounts, or junk promotion.
Keep advice honest. Dangerous advice may be removed.
Respect that members come from tree service, landscaping, repair, supplier, and equipment backgrounds.
Admins may remove posts, listings, or members to protect the community.

Marketplace rules

Move gear the right way.

No stolen equipment. Period.
Use real photos of the actual item whenever possible.
List condition honestly.
Serial numbers may be requested for suspicious listings.
No counterfeit PPE or sketchy life-support gear.
Buyer and seller handle payment, pickup, inspection, and transport directly.

Used safety gear warning: Used ropes, saddles, carabiners, rigging, PPE, and life-support equipment are purchased at the buyer's own risk. Inspect all equipment before use. Arborist Outfitters does not certify, inspect, or guarantee member-listed safety equipment.

This place works because people keep it honest. Buy, sell, trade, ask questions, share knowledge, tell stories, and help the next crew avoid the mistake you already paid for.

Keep It Honest

The Yard is built for arborists, climbers, mechanics, suppliers, and working tree crews. We are not trying to be the biggest place on the internet. We are trying to keep this place useful.

Do not bring scam behavior, stolen gear, fake listings, fake accounts, bait-and-switch deals, or drama that belongs in somebody else’s driveway.

Buying, Selling & Trading

Transactions are between the buyer and seller.
Verify who you are dealing with before sending money or gear.
Use clear photos, honest descriptions, fair pricing, and real locations.
Do not list stolen, unsafe, illegal, recalled, or intentionally misrepresented equipment.
If something looks shady, report it.

Gear & Safety

Arborist work carries real risk. Advice shared here is field talk, not a substitute for proper training, inspection, certification, manufacturer instructions, or professional judgment.

Inspect your own gear. Know your limits. Do not trust your life to a stranger’s forum post.

No Junk Circus

No couches.
No baby clothes.
No random garage-sale junk.
No spam, bot posts, fake promotions, or mystery links.
No flooding the forum with nonsense just to get attention.

Respect the Crew

Talk plain. Disagree when needed. Share what you know. But do not turn every thread into a chest-puffing contest.

Harassment, threats, doxxing, hate speech, fraud, intimidation, or repeated bad-faith behavior can get you removed.

Legal / Liability Plain Talk

Arborist Outfitters, The Yard, owners, admins, and moderators are not dealers, brokers, warranty departments, inspectors, referees, employers, insurers, escrow agents, or miracle workers.

We provide a place for people to communicate. We do not guarantee listings, sales, trades, work arrangements, advice, equipment condition, seller identity, buyer payment, jobsite safety, or the outcome of any deal made through this forum.

If proper authorities contact us regarding fraud, theft, threats, scams, illegal activity, or safety concerns, we may cooperate as required or appropriate.

Moderator Call

Admins and moderators may edit, move, lock, hide, remove, or reject posts or listings that do not fit The Yard. We may also remove accounts that create problems, scam concerns, or unnecessary risk.

Keep it useful. Keep it honest. Don’t make us regret building the place.
